About Me

Channel Islands Pro Series Criterium 2012

So I graduated in May 2012 with a Sports science degree and have always found that cycling has made me happy.  I found that helping others get the best out cycling too made me happy.  Following leaving home at 18- I worked as a bike guide on a cruise ship in the Caribbean and Med (doing bike tours round the Islands we stopped off at),  that's a funny one to get your head round.

I trained frequently but was unable to race as I was never in port long enough!
After my stint on the cruise ship I came to Oxford Brookes University in 2007 where I studied Engineering and Sports Science.  I rowed pretty much 70% of my 5 years in Oxford,  I turned to competitive downhill mountain bike racing for a while as well as cross country.  I graduated in May 2013 with a 2:1 and found my final year a real insight into scientific training methods as well as nutritional gold intel for endurance sports, particularly cycling.

I turned all my course works into an almost meta analysis of how I could improve my sporting performance,  I researched track based training and its place in road racing,  core strength training and its place in injury prevention,  the same with foam rolling,  PNF,  ballistic and developmental stretching.  I won't list everything that interests me in the science of sport as I'll need to replace my keyboard.
Since graduating I have been racing as full time as I can make it,  currently racing in Belgium for Kings North International Wheelers.

My aim now is to take my cycling as far as I can practicing what I have learnt in my degree to accomplish this task.  This year I intend to enter a team into several UCI stage races,  in addition to securing some good results here in Belgium
